Upstairs and Downstairs

Students can explore the Croxteth Hall and enjoy life ‘above’ and ‘below’ stairs at the turn of the 19th Century by dressing up in character. The School Room has a selection of historic domestic items that can be handled encouraging interactive play and learning – pupils can work out their uses back then compared to today. School visits have access to the Hall to explore and study the architecture of this grand building. What was life like for the Earls of Sefton, their families, and servants who lived in Edwardian times – find out for yourself!

Victorian Walled Garden

Into the grounds, and the Victorian Walled Garden and Country Park estate provide a wealth of fantastic learning opportunities from cross-curricular to subject-focused content. The Victorian Walled Garden boasts greenhouses displaying part of Liverpool’s oldest botanical collection – mostly tropical plants from around the world dating from 1803. It is a great place to learn about gardens, food, plants, growing; a place to inspire writing, or a calming place to draw.
